There is an end in sight to the lingering security challenges confronting Ikorodu Local Government, as a Chairmanship aspirant under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Yusuf Atebo a.k.a ‘Owolewa’ has promised huge investments towards improving the security architecture of the Council area.
Atebo, also known as ‘Ayo nbo’, while speaking during the formal unveiling of his Chairmanship Agenda canvassed for local policing as a means to combat security challenges in Nigeria.
He specifically paid glowing tributes to the Odofin of Ikorodu, High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN for spearheading and sponsoring the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative IDPIL Local Joint Task Force, which has been in the fore-front of maintaining peace and security across Ikorodu Division.
‘I want to commend our father, the Odofin of Ikorodu, High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN for the massive investment he is making in maintaining the peace and security of Ikorodu Division. He has done so much and he deserves our commendation’.
‘Our administration will give full support to our local security, particularly the IDPIL-LJTF. No policeman who is not an indigene can understand and secure our environment as much as these gallant local vigilant men’, he added.
Atebo equally hinted on his plan to collaborate with community development associations towards improving revenue collection across the council area.
He further promised to ensure that performing CDAs will earn compensation from revenue generated from their localities while the same would be adopted in project distribution to these areas.
He also unveiled his proposed plans for Poverty Alleviation, Healthcare, Education Development, Infrastructure, Youth and Women Empowerment.
The Chairmanship hopeful stressed that the needs of the people were well known to him and that his declaration of interest in the race was meant to restore the people’s confidence in democratic governance.
The declaration of interest event was graced by hundreds of ‘Ayo nbo’ supporters adorning their lemon green colour branded T-shirts and face caps.
Shakiru Seidu, a leading Chairmanship aspirant from Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA also graced the event to show solidarity to the Atebo.
