IKORODU LG BOSS, HON. WASIU ADESHINA PRESENTS N4.4 BILLION BUDGET OF CONSOLIDATION TO COUNCILLORS, PLEDGES TO BRIDGE INFRASTRUCTURAL GAPS

The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina has presented the 2025 Budget Proposal to the Council legislators.

The Budget Proposal, tagged, Budget of Consolidation was presented to the Councillors in the kresence of key stakeholders at the Council Legislative Chamber yesterday.

Before presenting the 2025 budget proposal, Adeshina gave a report on the successes and challenges in the 2024 budget.

‘The 2024 budget was instrumental towards driving significant infrastructural drive across various sectors of Ikorodu Local Government through the support of the Legislative arm and the collective efforts of our administration’.

He reported that the Council has recorded commendable achievements in areas such as infrastructural development, education, healthcare and youth empowerment in the outgoing year.

‘The 2025 budget which is tagged, Budget of Consolidation and Prosperity is meant to build on the successes of the past while addressing lingering developmental gaps.

The Council boss gave a breakdown of the budget as follows;

  • Total Budget – N4,48,732,534.44
  • Federal Allocation – N1.467,785,220.86
  • Other Allocations N105,547,420.20
  • VAT – N2,300,79,893.38
  • IGR – N112,800,000
  • State Coordinated Revenues – N62,500,000
  • Total Recurrent Expenditures – N2,736,732,534.44
  • Capital Expenditures – N1,312,000.00

The Council boss also explained that, the budget is anchored on three core pillars namely, Infrastructural Renewal, Human Capital Development and Economic Empowerment.

Responding, Leader of the Ikorodu Legislative House, Hon Adebola Adebowale commended the Wasiu Adeshina for their commitment towards the development of the Council area.

In his words, ‘This proposal reflects the commitment of the Executive towards and fostering growth, development and sustainability’

‘We commend the Chairman and his executive members for their thorough and responsible efforts in presenting this comprehensive budget’, he added.

The Council Leader further pledged his commitment and that of his Colleagues, towards ensuring that the budget is in alignment with the desires and expectations of the good people of the Council area.

He also pledged that the house will ensure that public funds are utilized with the highest level of transparency and accountability and efficiency for the benefits of residents.

Concluding, Adebowale urged his colleagues to ensure they give the budget the right scrutiny, substantive discussion and necessary feedbacks during the budget defence, in a bid to return a clean document to the executive for accent.

Stakeholders’ at the budget presentation, comprising party Chieftains, Senior Management Staffs, Community Development Associations and Market Men and Women commended the Council Chairman for his developmental efforts in the Council area.
