Veteran Multimedia Journalist and Founder of Ikorodu Oga Radio, Om’oba ‘Peju Akinyemi has released a new book to mark his 50th Birthday Celebration.
The book, “From Dreams to Reality”, which was formally unveiled to the general public on Saturday 23rd November, is a chronicle of Akinyemi’s over 2 decades of eventful professional community media practice.
The 3-in-1 Formal Book Presentation and Birthday Celebration also featured a Commemorative Public Lecture, delivered by a retired Permanent Secretary and General Manager of Lagos Television, Mr Lekan Ogunbanwo.
The Lecture, titled “The Impact of Community Radio in the promotion of National Security, Tourism Development and Cultural Renaissance highlights the strategic role of community Radio in the overall development of the country.”

Speaking on the idea behind his new book, Om’oba Akinyemi stated that the book was meant to commemorate the 8th year anniversary of the Online Community Radio, while also chronicling the idea, people and events leading to the launch of the radio.
The 10 Chapter book, which was reviewed by Mr Tony Okuyeme, Arts Editor, New Telegraph also featured a gallery of historic photos of past shows and guests that have featured on the radio.
‘From Dreams To Reality is a chronicle of idea, people and events that shaped the historic launch of Ikorodu Oga Radio, an innovative Community Radio that has now been widely adjudged as Nigeria’s Premier Online Community Radio’, he said.
The book is not just another academic material but is an inspirational account that seeks to challenge, motivate and inspire the untapped innate abilities of the reader, to dare to dream and pursue their dreams to fruition, despite the challenges that may arise’, he added.

The historic event was graced by the Sekumade of Ipakodo, Oba Basiru Aremu Sotonwa, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali and the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina.
The Executive Secretary of Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative (IDPIL), Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru represented the IDPIL BOT Chairman, Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN as the Chairman of Occasion.
A former Ag Commissioner for Tourism in Lagos State, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, Mr Taiwo Salami Awolaru, Director of Administration, IDPIL and Com. Kehinde Okeowo and husband, Dr. T.A.G Okeowo also graced the event.
Olotu-General of Anoko-Ogbonyari Royal Family of Ikorodu, Om’oba Jokotade Ogunbiyi led other Akarigbo Royal bloods to the event.
