The vision of Ikorodu’s fore-fathers for the local government to become a mega city ,as contained in an evergreen local song by Bombata- ‘Ikorodu a di headquarter’ may soon become a reality.
This indication was contained in a statement credited to Hon Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, an Ikorodu local government Chairmanship aspirant, at her formal declaration of intention held at The Exclusives Club, Ikorodu recently.
Olabanji-Oba said ‘my aspiration is predicated on my conviction of service to humanity; belief in the resounding human and developmental potentials of Ikorodu; and in the avowed culture of fairness and equity that the state leadership of our beloved party has institutionalized in the visionary management of APC, Lagos State’.
At the well-attended event, Hon Olabanji-Oba lamented a situation where ‘the greater Ikorodu division, with 6 LGA and LCDAs (abutting Ogun State from Ita-Oluwo in its northwest to Itoikin in the northeast) is one of the fastest developing individuals-built low- and medium-income real estates’ precincts on the continent of Africa, yet the indigenes and bonafide residents (especially the youths) seldom can lay claim to the inherent wealth this opportunity presents’ hence promised to formulate policies to address the anomaly.
It is instructive to note that, among other aspirants seeking to become Ikorodu local government chairman, only Hon. Olabanji-Oba has so far presented a development road-map and policy direction to improve the lot of Ikorodu local government, if elected.
In his remark at the event, Hon. Owolabi Anifowose, an APC chieftain and former House of Representatives aspirant commended Hon Olabanji-Oba for presenting her manifestos to the people. He further endorsed her candidature, being the most educated and qualified aspirant for the office.
