Stakeholders’ across various sectors of Ikorodu Local Government yesterday poured encomiums on the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina for providing exemplary leadership for the Council area in his over 9 years in the saddle.
The encomiums came on the heels of the presentation of the 2025 Budget proposal to the Council legislators by the Council Chairman yesterday.
First to commend Adeshina was the Councillors who spoke through the Council Leader, Hon. Adebola Adebowale who presided over the session.
‘The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina has served the good people of Ikorodu Local Government meritoriously and has written his name in gold in the history of Ikorodu Local Government’, he said.
Similarly, Chief Olumide Olomo, Baale Ojogbe added his voice by charging Ikorodu stakeholders to be wary in choosing Adeshina’s successor, noting that the shoes being left behind by Adeshina was big and cannot be worn by just anybody.
‘We have to be very careful to choose the next Chairman, as Wasiu Adeshina is leaving a very big shoe behind. I do not envy the incoming Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government’, he said.
In the words of the CDC Chairman, Elder Yekini Ogunjimi, ‘Wasiu Adeshina has raised the stake among other Chairmen in Ikorodu Local Government, he is an outstanding performer’.
Similarly, the Chief Imam of Oriwu Central Mosque, Alh Yahaya Oshola commended Adeshina’s leadership stride but charged him to ensure the rehabilitation of his community road during the next budget year.
An APC Chieftain, Alh. Korough confessed that his ward was either the first and second ward that has benefitted most from the Adeshina’s developmental projects.
Chairman of the Conference of Ward Chairmen of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. also expressed deep appreciation to Adeshina for his immense support for them throughout his tenure.
Meanwhile, another APC Chieftain, Alh. Longe recalled that the Council Chairman promised to create a Central Motor Park during the 2023 Budget Presentation and charged the Council boss to address this need in order to address the growing indiscriminate and parks springing up across the Council area.
Responding on the Central Motor Park, Adeshina explained that discussions with the Jiboro family land-owners had reached a considerable level before the family reneged.
He however assured the stakeholders in attendance that the project was still in the front burner and would be implemented once a suitable land is found.
