The Elejirin of Ejirin Land in Lagos State, Oba Rafiu Ishola Babatunde Balogun Elejinrin of Ejinrin has extended his deepest gratitude to members of Eko Club International, for bringing the 2024 free health mission to the community.
In his words,”This is not their first visit to Ejinrin, and I sincerely thank them from the bottom of my heart.”
Their selfless efforts of bringing free medical care to our people is a truly priceless gift. The only repayment we can offer is our prayers and blessings’.
Oba Rafiu noted that he is a key stakeholder in the Club having had the privilege of attending their conventions in America more than four times and London.
He said, ‘As long as God grants me good health and longevity, I will continue to support and follow them globally’.
Earlier, Hon. Saheed Olushi, President, Eko Club International, noted that the medical mission, initiated in 2007, aims to provide crucial healthcare services, particularly in underserved and remote regions with limited access to medical facilities.
He highlighted the commitment of Eko Club International in returning to Ejinrin, Epe Division, after a two-year gap to offer free medical services to the residents.
The medical team included doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and specialists providing various services such as general health assessments, cancer screenings, dentistry procedures, eye care, and limb information sessions.
Additionally, the organization collaborated with the Lagos State Ministry for Health to donate a 40-foot container of medical equipment and supplies to Lagos State hospitals, further enhancing the impact of their mission.
He therefore urged the community to take advantage of the free medical services, emphasizing the valuable opportunity for individuals to benefit from the expertise of local and international healthcare professionals volunteering their time and skills for the betterment of the community, quoting the age-old adage, “Health is Wealth.”
Olushi further expressed gratitude to the dedicated members of Eko Club International worldwide, acknowledging their unwavering support, financial contributions, and sacrifices in ensuring the success of the medical mission.
Dr. Orebiyi Olatunji Sunday, the Medical Officer of Health of Ikosi Ejinrin LCDA emphasized that a significant portion of the community faces financial challenges, making access to quality healthcare services a critical intervention to address prevalent health issues.
He noted that hypertension, diabetes, and eye-related problems are common health concerns in the community, underscoring the importance of such initiatives in providing essential care to those in need.
Dr. Sunday commended Eko Club International for their continued commitment to serving the community, especially the elderly population and retirees who are particularly vulnerable and in need of medical assistance.
Mr. John, a beneficiary, shared his gratitude and appreciation for the valuable healthcare services he received at the event. Expressing his amazement at the program being offered for free.
He mentioned that he had been experiencing issues with his eyesight and, upon consultation with the healthcare professionals present, he was confirmed to have a vision impairment.
As a result, he was provided with a free pair of eyeglasses to address his visual difficulty and was also given complimentary medications to aid in his health management.
Mrs. Rukayat Yekini, another beneficiary praised the efforts of the medical team, mentioning that they had done exceedingly well in addressing the various health needs of the community members.
She highlighted the diverse range of conditions that were attended to during the medical mission, including eye problems, ulcer cases, and malaria infections.
Each individual was carefully assessed, diagnosed, and provided with the necessary medications tailored to their specific health concerns.
Mr. Wasiu Bakare, a resident and indigene of Ejinrin expressed profound gratitude, as he discovered his diabetes condition through the medical tests conducted on site.
Following the diagnosis, he was promptly given the necessary medications to manage his newly identified health condition.
Despite not regularly attending such medical missions in the past, Mr. Bakare emphasized the importance of community mobilization and
encouraged others to avail themselves of the healthcare services provided by Eko Club International.
Concluding, he shared that while he was aware of his existing hypertension and undergoing treatment for it, the detection of diabetes during the event shed light on a previously unknown health issue.
