Scores of beneficiaries, comprising of adults and children partook of the free eye screening exercise and were subsequently given free eye glasses dubbed, ‘Jigi Oluowo’.
The ‘Jigi Oluowo’ free eye screening exercise was organized in memory of Late Pa Thompson Oke Shotomiwa, father of Prince Olayiwola Oyedele Shotomiwa (Ola Ola), Founder of LAULAT Memorial Foundation.
The Eye screening and free eye glasses distribution exercise, which took place on the 8th of November 2024 at Oba Adeboruwa Palace in Igbogbo was sponsored by Prince Com. Olayiwola Oyedele Shotomiwa, a Canada based noble prince of Igbogbo kingdom, to commemorate the 4th year anniversary of LAULAT MEMORIAL FOUNDATION.
The programs kicked off shortly after an opening prayer offered by Bishop of United African Methodist Church (Eleja) in igbogbo, Rt. Rev. Toyi
The exercise which was phased into two parts, featured the children segment, where they were screened of eye defects while the second phase focused on the adults.
A total of 122 beneficiaries benefitted from the exercise, comprising 55 pupils, 60 adults and 7 members of the foundation.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the exercise, Mrs Bisi Bello Mustapha who represented LAULAT MEMORIAL FOUNDATION noted that the program was originally initiated for the pupils and it was planned because of two pupils of United African Primary School (UAMC) Eleja namely, Ishola Aminat and Ayuba Rahmon, who were Albinos and were suffering from eye defect.
It would be recalled that these pupils were offered full scholarship by LAULAT MEMORlAL FOUNDATION in 2023.
