The newly installed Asiwaju of Ibeshe Land, Asiwaju Kaoli Olusanya has expressed his commitment to do more for the all-round development of Ibeshe Land.
Olusanya who is also the Asipa of Ikorodu disclosed this yesterday during a Pre -Installation Press Briefing with selected members of the Press at his country home in Ibeshe.
The new Asiwaju of Ibeshe Land, a former two-time Commissioner for Agriculture in Lagos State, while appreciating His Royal Majesty, Oba Richard Abayomi Ogunsanya, the Olubeshe of Ibeshe Land for finding him and his wife, Chief Mrs Oluwakemi Olusanya worthy of the honour stated that the honour will further encourage them to do more for the community.
The Chief Learning Officer of Kith & Kin Schools, Ibeshe however noted that as residents and business owners, himself and his wife has done so much in offering scholarships to many indigent pupils in the community at Kith & Kin Schools where he is the Chief Learning Officer while his wife is the Director.
Olusanya, who is also a former Vice Chairman, Lagos East Senatorial District of the ruling, All Progressives Congress (APC) also promised to share his wealth of experience with Ibeshe youths who were in need of mentoring in order to put them on the right path in life, career and general pursuits.
Speaking in a similar vein, the newly installed Yeye Asiwaju of Ibeshe Land, Chief Mrs Oluwakemi Olusanya noted that, as a woman and mother, her new position would offer her the opportunity to support indigent mothers with the education of their children.
She equally pledged her commitment towards moulding the Girl-Child in Ibeshe Land, through mentoring platforms and activities tailored to their needs.
Asiwaju Kaoli Olusanya was joined at the Press parley by a former two-term Commissioner in Lagos State, Hon. Lanre Balogun, Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, APC Divisional Chairman, Hon Olasunkanmi Tijani, Alh. Badru Enifeni and a host of other APC Chieftains and party stalwarts.
Asiwaju Kaoli Olusanya while addressing the Press stated that, ‘What we are celebrating here is what I can call “Leadership at the Grassroots”. Leadership at the Grassroots, that is accepted, relevant, caring and that associates with diverse categories of people in the community’, he said.
‘The title “Asiwaju” captures the definition of my leadership. Going by Yoruba interpretation, the “Asiwaju” represents the diverse tendencies in the community. He is seen as someone who is leading at the fore front to galvanize resources, energies of the people, harmonising them, making sure to resolve conflicts, making sure that everyone has a sense of belonging’, he added.
He spoke further, ‘The leadership bestowed on me by the title “Asiwaju” is received by me as a responsibility to do more than what the community saw in me. In the simplest of terms, it is to make sure that we are able to take their feelings and take feedback from the grassroots; what would they like to see in government. This is because everywhere, we are seen as representatives of Mr President’.
Earlier, in his opening remarks, Hon. Lanre Balogun, who is the Chairman of the Planning Committee stated that, Olusanya is a leader of note who has contributed immensely to the development of Ibeshe Community and the entire Ikorodu Division.
He explained that the Press Parley was organized by Olusanya ‘s political associates across Ikorodu Division and beyond, in celebration of his immense contributions in the development of Lagos State and indeed Ikorodu Division as a whole.
Similarly, the Vice Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Aarebirin Honourable (Dr.) Princess Folasade Olabanji Oba, who is also a member of the Planning Committee described Olusanya as a peoples’ person who is passionate and empathetic.
‘We are here to celebrate one of the greatest quintessential leaders of all time, who for us, has not just been a leader, but has been a father, a mentor, a role model per excellence and a life transformer’, she said.
‘He could have been in so many luxurious places, but he has chosen to live among his people here to add to the value and impact on the quality of life of his people. Because of him, I probably would count so many other sons and daughters who have gone on to unleash their great potentials and are leaders not just in Ikorodu or Lagos, but all over the world. It is now Ikorodu to the world. So, we are proud of him’, she added.
The Press parley also featured a cultural display by masquerade from Ibeshe Land, accompanied by the Odofin of Ibeshe, Chief …. and other traditional chiefs.
