NULGE STAFF FORUM: STATE PRESIDENT, COM OGUNFOWORA HONOURS ADESHINA WITH BEST PERFORMING CHAIRMAN AWARD ON STAFF WELFARE, AS COUNCIL STAFFS PASS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON COUNCIL CHAIR

The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina has again been honoured with another prestigious award, as Ikorodu Division’ s Best Performing Chairman on Staff Welfare.

Adeshina was presented with the award by the NULGE STATE President, Com Sunday Sewanu Ogunfowora during the 2024 Staff Forum held in the Council Hall today.

Ogunfowora while presenting the award noted that the NULGE Award was not a give away that is presented to all local government chairman. He stresses that only about four Chairmen in the State qualified for the award and Adeshina was the only Chairman from Ikorodu Division that was deserving of it, for creating a friendly working environment for the council staffs, coupled with his numerous policies and programmes that promote staff welfare.


Com. Sewanu Sunday Ogunfowora also commended Adeshina for the cordial and smooth working relationship he has with the staff members.

He further stressed the need for the establishment of Ikorodu Local Government Staff Clinic, citing the cases of two staffs of some local government that died in the last 24 hours due to avoidable health challenges.

He appealed to the Council Chairman to also strive to motivate the Members of staff more so that they can perform better.

He concluded by appealing to Adeshina to increase the monthly staff financial assistance from Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N350,000) to One Million Naira (N1,000,000) monthly.

Addressing the forum, Adeshina said, ‘Today is an important day in the history of the Ikorodu Local Government. As a former civil servant, I know the importance of staff forums and the strategic place it holds in promoting staff efficiency.

He expressed gratitude to all the members of staff, stating that, ‘the bedrock of any organization was the staff’

‘Your exercise and tireless effort is responsible for the successes we have achieved as an administration and I can’t thank you enough’, he stated.

‘Let us continue to work together as a team. My office is wide open to receive any relevant information, ideas and feedback that can assist us in the delivery of democratic dividends to residents of Ikorodu Local Government’, he pleaded.

He corroborated the position of the State NULGE President on the need for decent corporate dressing for members or staff with a view to attract respect and honour from tax payers.

Adeshina further disclosed that, 50 office tables and executive chairs, along with office file cabinets have been procured and were ready for distribution to the Staff, to further create a conducive working environment for staffs.

Similarly, he announced that two revenue buses would be presented to the revenue department, as a way of enhancing the productivity of the revenue teams.

The entire auditorium went into an ecstasy mood when the Council Chairman announced that three additional revenue buses would be presented to the revenue department before the end of the year.

Earlier, in his opening remarks, NULGE Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Com. Adebambo Kazeem commended Adeshina for collaborating with the body to provide excellent service delivery to the good people of Ikorodu Local Government, through the creation of a friendly working environment for the members of staff.

He highlighted Staff welfare, provision of monthly imprest, food palliative, open-door policy among others as some of the impetus staffs enjoy under the administration of Hon Wasiu Adeshina.

Concluding, he charged staffs to ensure proper use and maintenance of the vehicles, office chairs, tables and other office property within their possession as a way of reciprocating the good gesture of the Executive Chairman.

A major highlight of the forum was the presentation of N200,000 to three revenue staffs, namely, Adekunle Adebambo (Corporate), who got N100,000, Mrs Morufat Olatunji Sabo Area Officer and Mr Adedipe Taiwo Area Officer who received the sum of N50,000 each.
