
The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina has charged Council staff and other attendees at the 9th edition of the Council’s Annual Ramadan Lecture to imbibe the teachings of the holy month of Ramadan. Adeshina gave the charge while responding to questions from media men on the sidelines of the lecture at the Council Secretariat yesterday.
The Council boss, stressed that the annual lecture has yielded much desired results, shaping the behavioural patterns of attendees, hence the reason for its sustenance for the ninth year.
He also highlighted that since the Ramadan period is a sacred one, it is only expedient to align with the significance of the period to educate and recognise Muslims in the division.
He said, ‘The teachings of the annual lectures have been able to mould the behaviours of many attendees. I want to still use this opportunity to charge attendees of this year’s lecture to ensure they put to practice.
‘I know many of our friends who have told me that the teachings have helped them to stop drinking, smoking and other sinful habits’ he added.
Adeshina further counseled attendees to sustain the good works of Ramadan after the fasting period, while imploring them not to go back to their sinful ways after the fasting period.
This year’s edition was held in partnership with the Iradat Global Family with the Lecture taken by Amir / Founder and National Chief Missioner Sheikh Shakirudeen Akanni Adegbolahan Abdul-Razak Orilobamise.
The Ninth Ramadan Lecture of the Local Government which took place at the council secretariat yesterday, saw Muslims across the division churn out in their numbers, relishing every part of the lecture while appreciating the chairman for his unwavering consistency in organising the lecture.
Being the last time he would host the annual Ramadan Lecture as the Council’s boss, Adeshina promised to continue the annual lecture in a more organised space for the benefit of all Muslims in the division, after the expiration of his tenure.
While speaking at the event Adeshina reassured indigenes of Agura of his commitment to the improvement of their Public Health Care Centre while also sharing that the ambulance just received by the council from Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, would be dedicated to the Health Centre.
The Council boss also revealed his intention to not only complete the ongoing upgrade of the council walls, but also to change the council’s gate by the coming week while assuring the completion the council’s legislative building.
In his lecture, Sheikh of Iradat Islamic Society charged this ein political office to rule in the fear of God, by imbibing the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad SAW.
Speaking on the forthcoming local government elections, Sheikh admonished party leaders to be careful in picking the next Chairmanship candidate for Ikorodu Local Government.
He advised that the ideal candidate must be someone with very strong affinity with Ikorodu, and must be someone who would work for the good of the people, not his own pocket.
The auspicious occasion was graced by party and community leaders prominent amongst whom were the Chairman, APC Ikorodu, Alhaji Waheed Animashaun, the Iyaloja-General, Ikorodu Division, Deaconess Chief Busola Isikalu and the Ikorodu Division APC Women Leader, Alh. Rasheedat Bello among many others.
