RAMADAN LECTURE: IKORODU NASFAT CHAIR, ISLAMIC CLERICS PRAISE REP BENSON’S RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE, SUPPORT FOR NASFAT HOSPITAL PROJECT

The Chairman of the Nasrul-Fathi Islamic Society (NASFAT) Ikorodu Branch, Mr Shakirudeen Oladunjoye has lauded the Chairman, House of Reps Committee on Defence, Rep Babajimi Benson for his religious tolerance and warm reception given to the Islamic group through the annual Ramadan Lecture hosted in honour of the Federal Lawmaker.

Oladunjoye also praised Benson for donating handsomely towards the NASFAT Hospital project at the 2024 Maiden NASFAT Ramadan Lecture hosted by the federal lawmaker at his Constituency Office last year.

The Islamic leader expressed deep appreciation to Benson, who was represented at the Lecture by his Director-General, Mayor Deen Sanwoola.

He stated that Benson’s impact was evident throughout Ikorodu, and he stressed that Benson welcomed them wholeheartedly last year and fulfilled his promises.

Oladunjoye said, ‘One of our requests was building a hospital, and today we will be very happy to take him on a tour to the hospital’.

He also commended Benson’s installation of solar lightings at the mosque and hospital, saying it has transformed the area. Oladunjoye appreciated Benson’s non-discriminatory approach towards their religion, saying, ‘He didn’t discriminate our religion; he welcomed us wholeheartedly’.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Ramadan Committee, Alhaji Abdulrahman Afolabi Adedeji also expressed his gratitude to the iCare Foundation and its Director-General, Mr. Mayor Deen Sanwoola, for their unwavering support, while commending Rep Babajami Benson’s unwavering support for the group and her projects.

He reflected on the significance of Ramadan, emphasizing the importance of selflessness, generosity, and compassion during this blessed month.

Earlier, Sheikh Abdulrasaq AbdulAzeez Ishola delivered a lecture on Zakat and Sadaqah, emphasizing their significance in providing solutions and support for challenges in life.

He stated that tribulations and challenges wrre inevitable in life, citing the Holy Quran as his reference. He said, “The Quran emphasizes that solutions to overcome these challenges lie in Zakat and Sadaqah.”

He explained the difference between Zakat and Sadaqah, noting that Zakat was an annual obligation, while Sadaqah represents the essence of humanity. ‘Sadaqah is where humanity begins, and it’s a fundamental aspect of our faith’, he stated.

The Islamic Scholar urged the audience to prioritize Zakat and Sadaqah in their lives, emphasizing the importance of compassion and charity. He said, ‘We must help those in need, and give charity while we can. We shouldn’t oppress others with our wealth’.

Concluding, Sheikh Abdulrasaq also praised Honorable Babajimi Benson for his exemplary leadership and commitment to serving others without discrimination.
