The Chairman, House of Reps Committee on Defence, Rep Babajimi Benson has lauded the selfless spirit of the Iyaloja-General of Ikorodu Division, Dcns. Chief Mrs Busola Elizabeth Isikalu.
Benson also commended the market leader for her unique leadership style, which is evident in the way and manner she has organized the market men and women in Ikorodu Division since she assumed the leadership.
The Federal lawmaker openly confessed that he was first amused with the Iyaloja-General when she was first jostling for the position. He particularly expressed surprise at the level of preparedness of Isikalu, who he said presented her 7 point agenda to him.
‘I met Dcns. Isikalu about two years ago when she was contesting for the position of Iyaloja-General. At first, I was wondering why a woman who has done so well for herself in her private business would want to bother herself with leading the market men and women Association’, he said.
‘But, on seeing her 7-point agenda, I was convinced that she truly has the interest of the market men and women at heart. With this, I saw in her the genuine passion to serve her community’, Benson added.
Speaking further, Benson equally revealed that every time Isikalu came to him to make a request, it was always for the market men and women. She doesn’t ask for anything that would benefit her.
Rep Benson who is also the Chairman of the occasion at the Iwuye Ceremony of the Iyaloja-General also announced that, he would be facilitating the building of Ikorodu Division Market Men and Women Secretariat House, as requested by Isikalu.
Similarly, Benson also announced that he would soon launch a micro-credit scheme for market men and women in the Division as a demonstration of his support for Isikalu’s development agenda for Ikorodu market men and women.
Responding, Dcns Isikalu thanked Benson for always giving her a listening ear and for having the interest of market men and women at heart.
A major highlight of the 2-in-1 Birthday and Iwuye Ceremony event was the presentation of Certificate of Recognition to the Iyaloja-General by the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina.
The event was also graced by the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Chief Mrs Folashade Tinubu-Ojo and other prominent market leaders across Ikorodu Division.
Ikorodu Division Royal Fathers also graced the event as a demonstration of their endorsement of the Iyaloja-General.
