In fulfilment of his promise to provide succour to residents of Kosofe, Ikosi-Isheri and Agboyi-Ketu whose communities were ravaged by flood last year, the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, has distributed 150 bags of 50kg rice to the affected constituents.
The affected communities where the rice were shared include: Odo-Ogun, Ajegunle, Owode-Elede, Osho-Ogun, Agboyi-town, all under Agboyi- Ketu LCDA. In Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, some affected residents residing in Agiliti 2, Maidan, Orisha/Isheri , Ajegunle/ Idera/ Kiokio, Isheri- North and Akinpelu communities received the rice.
Meanwhile, in Kosofe Local Government Area, residents of Oworo coastal area and Ogudu, Ojota, Mende areas, who were adversely impacted by floods got the rice.
In ensuring that the bags of rice got to the affected persons, the office of the Senator, in alliance with the three Local Government Authorities, community and political leaders and the leadership of the Community Development Committee, CDC, collaborated to distribute the rice.
This humanitarian intervention is one of many kind gestures of Senator Abiru to his constituents, particularly vulnerable members of the society. Every quarter, thousands of households across the 16 LGAs/ LCDAs in the Lagos East Senatorial District benefit from his quarterly Food Packs Programme.
Otunba Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, PhD, on behalf of the Senator, in the presence of notable political and community leaders, APC LGA chairmen in the three LG/LCDAs, led by the Chair of Chairs, Hon Sunday Odekomaya and East Consultative Forum, ECF Coordinators, Captain and Secretaries from the three LGA/LCDAs, handed over the rice to the council chairmen (Hon. Dele Oshinowo (Agboyi-Ketu), Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada(Ikosi-Isheri) and Hon Moyosore Ogunlewe (Kosofe LGA).
The council chairmen, one after another, expressed gratitude to the distinguished Senator for his empathy and kindness towards the people, particularly during this challenging economic period.
