Unknown to many, Hon Ogunleye Gbolahan Adetokunbo, Chairman Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Overseas Investments and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has been working silently in fulfilling some of his campaign promises.
Though, many motorists can now heave a sigh of relief when driving on some link roads within Ikorodu town, not many would connect the palliative works recently carried out on these roads by the Public Works Bureau to Ogunleye, as part of his efforts in bringing succour to his constituent.
In a press statement made available to Ikorodu Oga Radio, Ogunleye has decided to keep his constituents updated about some of his activities in less than one year in office.
‘As part of the promises made during my campaigns to move Ikorodu ahead and steer development and draw government attention to our needs. I wish to announce to the good people of Ikorodu constituency 1, that as your representative in the Lagos State House of Assembly, I have facilitated through His Excellency, the Governor of Lagos State and his diligent staff in the Lagos State Public Works Department, the rehabilitation of some major link roads in our constituency’.
He noted that, ‘The successful completion of some of these major link roads has surely improved the ease of movement within our community’.
‘I also with great pride and admiration express my heartfelt commendation to all the community members and leaders who participated in one way or another in making this venture a resounding success’, he added.
Continuing he said, ‘Once again, I want to extend my deepest appreciation to the Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for the unrelenting and reinvigorated effort of the state government aimed at improving road networks in communities across Lagos, reduce travel time and engender ease of movement for vehicles and residents. Your exceptional leadership, Your vision, passion, and unwavering commitment have been the driving force behind our achievements’.
Ogunleye also acknowledged the tireless effort of our dedicated General Manager Lagos State Public Works Engr. Lateef Ayodele Somide and other members of the Ministry, stressing that their selflessness and enthusiasm have been truly inspiring. He also noted that their countless hours of hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed, while also praising their unwavering commitment to duty.
Reeling out some of the projects, he listed the completion of Oba Sekumade road, Oba Oyefusi street, TOS Benson road, Ayangburen road, Etunrenren street, Banjoko Olowu street, Alison street, Ajenifuja street, Olowosago street, Kasali Onilere street, Alh. Ogbara street, Adeyeri Owuyo street and other road rehabilitations that are still ongoing as a strong statement of intent, that the government is ready and taking the much needed actions’.
The State Lawmaker however appealed to his Constituents to expect more from the State Government, while also protecting the rehabilitated roads and other infrastructural projects in their various communities.
He disclosed that this was the true spirit of community and the remarkable things we can achieve when we come together determined with a common purpose.
He further harped on the need for continued power of collaboration, unity, and determination to tackle future challenges and build an even stronger, more vibrant community.
Concluding, he said, ‘IKORODU is our home and we must all take responsibility and contribute our own quota to ensure the Greater Ikorodu of our dreams’.
