For eight straight years since 2016, Ikorodu Federal Constituency Rep Member, Babajimi Benson has again distributed food support to hundreds of indigents households across Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
The food support initiative, dubbed ‘Apo Aanu’ was initiated in 2016 by Benson to bring relief to the less-privileged residents.
So far, over 10,000 households have benefitted from the monthly food outreach on the platform of Benson’s iCare Food Bank.
Benson, during the inauguration of the food bank to commemorate World Food Day in October 2016 vowed that none of his constituents deserved to go to bed hungry.
In a chat with Ikorodu Oga Radio and TV recently, Benson revealed that the initiative has been extended with more beneficiaries benefitting across different social strata, in response to the current economic hardships in the country.
He further stated that, he remained committed to sustaining the initiative until hunger is permanently stamped out or reduced to the barest minimum among residents of Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
In demonstration of empathy to beneficiaries who live in faraway communities within Ikorodu federal constituency and to take the burden of high cost of transportation off them, JB’s Icare Foundation team has employed a decentralized distribution method, thereby taking the food bags closer to the beneficiaries within their community of residents. Beneficiaries from Ijede, Imota, Isiwu and other distant locations, brought their ‘Apo Aanu’ otherwise known as Icare food bags, delivered directly to their council areas, instead of traveling down to Rep Benson’s constituency office along Ebute-Igbogbo road in Ikorodu.
