Y2025 BUDGET: IKORODU LOCAL GOVERNMENT HOLDS BUDGET CONSULTATIVE FORUM, PLEDGES DELIVERY OF LEGACY PROJECTS

The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Wasiu Adeshina has promised to bequeath legacy infrastructure projects to the incoming administration of the Council come 2025, after the expiration of his tenure.

Adeshina made this promise yesterday during the 2025 Budget Consultative Forum, where stakeholders converge to deliberate and shape the aspirations of Ikorodu Local Government for the 2025 budget year.

The Council boss noted that, ‘though my tenure as your Executive Chairman is winding-up, I am deeply committed to
leaving a legacy of an advanced governance model that reflects transparency, accountability,
and our community’s collective vision’.

‘This forum exemplifies our dedication to inclusive growth and shared prosperity for Ikorodu local government. In this era of rapid change, the need to consolidate our efforts and chart a course toward sustainable development cannot be overstated’.

Adeshina also seized the moment to share the achievements of his administration in 2024 – a Year he tagged, Year of Remarkable Progress.

‘The significant milestones in 2024 cut across all the sectors including the completion of over 14 roads and drainages in areas that includes Forcy Rabiu, Sanni Arowolo, Ladamos to Liwe, Otayombo, Obun-ale to Ajina, Odugate, Ayangburen Sabo Market gate,
Ita-elewa, Solomade / Adekayaoja, Muhammed Ajayi close, Ayegbami, Ladamos to Ajina, Itundomuganran.

‘We also embarked on earth grading of roads in all the 7 wards of Ikorodu LGA among other ongoing roads and drainage construction’, he added.

‘This development, enhances connectivity, improves the quality of life and experience of road users’, he stated.

He continued, ‘We also provided over 10 industrial boreholes as water supply across the 7 wards in Ikorodu
LG, including Grammar School, Gberigbe, Ojogbe, Ladejobi, Liwe Zone, Ipebi, Sholafun, Lowa, Itunpate, Laketu / Akinsanya and so on. Some have been commissioned, while others have been completed and are awaiting commissioning’.

He equally spoke about the ongoing construction of a world-class legislative Chamber for the Legislative
Arm the Local Government, aimed at enhancing democratic practice.

Adeshina noted that his administration has prioritized education through several initiatives, including: provision of desks and benches at Salvation Army Primary school. Provision of Marker boards and other teaching materials in the 16 primary schools in Ikorodu LG. Provision of notebooks and writing materials for pupils in the 16 primary schools in Ikorodu LG and on-going construction of ICT center at Ita Elewa. They also include ongoing construction of a block of classrooms at African Bethel Primary School, ongoing Construction of a block of classroom at Muslim-A primary School.

Other projects listed under education are, 100s of fully funded GCE and UTME
registration forms. 100s of Instantly disbursed bursary awards for indigent tertiary institution students to support their academic aspirations. Support for school sports programs, promoting
physical education and teamwork. World standard Debate & spelling Bee competitions to prepare our wards to be vibrant amongst others.

These projects, he said are meant to provide the necessary impetus as well as a more conducive learning environment for the pupils to learn.

The Council boss also listed other areas of improved infrastructure in 2024 to include, health-care sectors. This includes, the distribution of ante-natal and post-natal bags to women. Ongoing renovation and re-enactment of the Agura Primary Health Care centre and partnership with NGOs to conduct free health missions.

The consultative forum afforded the stakeholders, comprising youths, traditional leaders, market men and women and CDAs the opportunity to run minds with the Management of the local government towards improved Infrastructural development across all sectors.

During the interactive Session, contributors equally made specific demands and inputs into the planned budget to close some of the obvious gaps in the provision of social amenities in the Council.

While thanking the participants for their invaluable contributions, Adeshina promised to consider them for inclusion in the 2025 budget projection.
